Toddler group provides a lifeline for Stephanie and Kia

Two-and-a-half year old Kia has suffered frequent seizures since birth and was eventually diagnosed with the rare Migrating Partial Epilepsy of Infancy Syndrome.

The constant seizures mean Kia has severe developmental delay, sensory processing disorder and cerebral visual impairment. Kia's seizures can be triggered by overstimulation which makes going out difficult at times.

Stephanie heard about Visibility at a Brain Injury event, and the family are now regular attenders at our Glasgow Little Explorer Toddlers Group. This has given Stephanie more understanding of how Kia’s sight is affected and provides her with lots of helpful advice and information, especially around sensory play, toys and equipment.

Stephanie also enjoys meeting other mums in similar circumstances and likes to swap stories and share tips and ideas.

“Without the support and encouragement that Visibility has provided, I'd have felt clueless about how to help Kia. Working with all the fantastic staff, to understand and develop strategies around Kia's sight loss has made me feel so much more confident as a mum.”
