Befriending

The befriending project provides a valuable link for many people who may feel isolated. Volunteers visit people in their own homes, support them to go out and about and build friendships. Volunteers and befriendees are matched looking at similar interests, personalities and geographical areas. There is always a long waiting list for befrienders. For more information contact the volunteer co-ordinator on 0141 332 4632 or email Rosemary Cameron.

Climbing up the climbing wall with the help of the instructorWe are also looking for people to join our training team and be involved in delivering training in visual impairment awareness to organisations. Research

Visibility has a small team of people involved in researching issues to do with visual impairment. This research is often about people's experiences of using services or living with sight loss. This research is passed on to local authorities, health boards, etc. in an endeavour to raise the issues and influence changes. For information in the current areas of research, go to Research. If you would like to contribute to the research please contact 0141 332 4632 or email Shelagh Palmer.

Fundraising

- Visibility Box Collector

We are looking to place our new Visibility Collection boxes throughout Glasgow and the West of Scotland. Volunteers are required to help find local businesses in their area, such as corner shops, hairdressers, visitor attractions in your area or hotels, to see if they will display our collection boxes. They are then emptied as required. The pennies really do add up, and provide much needed regular income. It is a very simple but effective means of fundraising.

- Volunteer Events Fundraisers

You could help Visibility raise vital funds by organising a local event on our behalf. You may have an exciting fundraising idea of your own that you would like to organise. We can help by providing advice and resources.

- Volunteer Speakers

Visibility is often asked to talk about its work to many different kinds of groups and organisations. If you enjoy public speaking and would enjoy giving talks on sight loss and the work of Visibility please let us know. Full training and materials will be provided.

For more information on any of the above please contact Fiona Sandford, CEO on 0141 332 4632 or email Fiona Sandford.
