Great Scottish Run - Visibility – 150th Birthday – 150 Runner Challenge

Andrew Agnew AKA PC Plum with Visibility Runners

PC Plum from the BBC children’s show Balamory popped into our offices recently. The PC, otherwise known as actor Andrew Agnew, is helping us in our quest to get 150 people signed up for this year’s Great Scottish Run on 6th September.

Ronnie and Holly

He met with some of our signed up runners including Holly Small aged 9 who is our youngest runner, and Ronnie Anderson aged 76 our eldest. To celebrate our 150 birthday we are looking for 150 runners, walkers or joggers  to take part .  In these difficult financial times, we are not asking people to raise a target sponsorship, all we ask is that you proudly take to the field wearing a Visibility vest and raise whatever you can to support our work.

Whether you want to run, walk, hop or skip, do the half-marathon, the 10k or the junior event…. we want you in team Visibility!

James Semple who is running the 10K

James Semple is one of another of our runners, James who has Retinitis Pigmentosa wanted to run for us because he has been lucky enough to benefit from our services - James says "I'm running to raise funds for Visibility because there is no-one else around here that provides anything like the services they do and also to help them with their research into new ways of helping people".

Please came along and join Holly, Ronnie and James to help give people affected by sight loss access to the services, information and assistance they need.

Can do, will do, lets find out how.

Photograph of echolocation training

Visibility is constantly looking out for new ways of doing things that will enable visually impaired people to live the lives of their choice. We have pioneered techniques such as echolocation and eccentric reading in Scotland, and the inspirational people we work with have gone on to overcome incredible adversity to lead successful, fulfilling lives.

By making a donation, you can help us continue to seek out new techniques, aids and equipment which will enable blind and partially sighted people to break down barriers and take more control of their lives.
